These chillies are perfect for use in authentic Tamilnadu vegetarian dishes particularly sambar, rasam, kara kuzhambu or vatha Kuzhambu. The chillies are usually naturally grown as the farmers only throw the seeds on open fields and the chillies grow based on the rainfall of the North-East Monsoon. So they are truly natures bounty. These are unique to the old Ramnad district and also grow in small quantities in the Tuticorin district. They are known as s9s and as dundicuts. Ideal for preparing sambar as this helps in making the authentic Chennai style sambar. It has a mild heat but adds a nice taste to the sambar.
