Naranga curry is a pickle that is usually served in a traditional Kerala sadya during Onam. It is made using curry naranga / vadukapuli naranga that looks like a large lemon but is comparatively very sour and juicy. Its not that popular with the others here because this particular lemon is on the bitter side. This particular variety of lemon is about the size of a large grapefruit. It has a rough, slightly bumpy thick skin and is not so juicy and quite bitter. In Kerala it is locally known as Kari Naranga. So the Vadukapuli Naranga Pickle naturally features during the Onam Sadhya or festive lunch. It is also often served at Malayali wedding lunches during season. Vadukapuli achar is a tangy kind of Indian pickle made with a variety of citrus fruit which is very juicy, having a high sour level compared to lemon. It is also known as Curry Naaranga or Wild lemon or Citron belonging to the Citrus family. It tastes like lemon and is much bigger in size than the lime and is very good for health and cleanses the stomach. Vadukupuli achar is a very popular dish usually served during the traditional Kerala Sadya on Onam.
